de Marigny banned for one-match following derby sendoff

Melbourne Victory assistant coach Jean Paul de Marigny will not be flanking coach Kevin Muscat when the Victory face Central Coast on December 28 after receiving a one-match man following his behavior in his side’s 2-1 defeat of Melbourne City on Saturday night.

The independent Match Review Panel (MRP) deemed that de Marigny “committed the offence of Use of offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or gestures towards a match official.”

The Mauritian came back to Victory in June this year after spending a season as an assistant to former Newcastle Jets boss Scott Miller.

Second-placed Victory lock horns with the Mariners in next week’s midweek fixture at AAMI Park.
